I'm
interested in having a photo quilt made. How long does it take? |
|
A.
|
It
normally takes me about 6 weeks to complete and return a quilt
once I've received the order. During times of the year when demand
is higher (many people think a photo quilt makes a great gift
for Christmas, graduation, Mother's Day, etc.) the turnaround
time may be longer. I'll post a notice on the site if I'm working
with a definite cutoff date for a particular holiday. Please feel
free to check with me
to see what my current time frame is.
A
rush order fee of $50.00 will apply to any order that needs to
be completed and returned less than a month after the photos arrive.
I will accomodate rush orders whenever possible, but if you need
a quilt completed very quickly, I ask that you contact
me before sending your order to verify that I will be
able to complete your quilt in the necessary time frame.

What
size photos do you need me to send? |
|
A.
|
You
can send photos as large as 8 x 10, on down to wallet-sized. I
encourage you to send larger photos if possible, as reproducing
a larger picture will result in a better resolution.

|
How
good must the quality of the photos be? |
|
A.
|
Well,
of course the better the quality of the photos you send, the better
the results will be on your quilt. If you have a photo of a special
person or event that you just have to have included on your quilt,
but the quality of the photo isn't so great (poor lighting, blurry,
etc.) you're welcome to send it to me, but please understand that
the quality of the photo reproduction on your quilt will be equivalent
to the quality of the original photo. Please send me the best
quality photos possible to insure good results on your quilt.

|
A.

The
final size of each of your photos when they're reproduced on your
quilt will be approximately 5" x 7".

I
have color photos, but I'd rather they be black & white on my
quilt. Can you do that? |
|
A.
|
You
bet! Send me what you have, and I can create black & white
versions of your color photos. I can also create sepia versions
of your photos, if you'd like. Sepia is a brown-tinted variation
of a black & white photo which gives it an old-fashioned,
nostalgic look and feel. Simply choose either of these options
when completing the order form.

What
happens to my photos after you've used them to make my quilt? |
|
A.
|
The
reproduction process won't affect your photos in any way. They'll
be returned to you with your finished quilt in the same condition
that I received them. (Note: Family Heirloom Photo Quilts
cannot be responsible for photos that are lost or damaged in the
mail. If you want to use photos that have a great sentimental
value to you and/or that you feel are irreplacable, and you are
fearful that they may be damaged or lost in the mail, I strongly
encourage you to have good quality copies made for me to use,
instead of sending me your originals.)

I
already have fabric that I'd like you to use on my quilt. Is that
possible? |
|
A.
|
Sure!
If you'd like to send your own fabric for me to use, please do
the following:
- Contact
me
to discuss how much fabric will be needed for the size quilt
you'd like to order. It's very important that you send enough
fabric!
- Please
pre-wash and dry your fabric and press it before sending
it.
Just
send me your fabric along with your photos. If any of the fabric
is left over, I'll return it to you with the finished quilt and
your photos.
